Golf Memberships

Membership Types

Caloosa Golf and Country Club was established in 1979 as a private, member-owned, non-profit corporation to promote golf recreational facilities and support social activities for its retired members. Full General Membership is offered to residents of Sun City Center and to a limited number of retired non-residents from surrounding communities. Cart storage for non-resident members is available at a nominal fee.

Trial memberships are offered to a limited number of undecided prospective members, subject to certain restrictions, for a once-only period of 60 consecutive days. Most participants have elected to become full members after taking advantage of this opportunity to try out the course.

Membership Features

  • Caloosa is a debt-free, non-profit club, owned by the membership and managed by a 9-member Board of Directors elected by the membership.
  • With membership limited to 300, tee times can be scheduled every day of the week, often by telephone with only a few hours advance notice.
  • The course, officially rated by the USGA, is designed with the clubhouse located at the center of four loops, thus giving players the opportunity to use clubhouse facilities after each four or five holes.
  • Complete practice facilities available at Caloosa include a full driving range with unlimited range balls at no additional cost, two pitching greens, two putting greens, a chipping practice area and a sand bunker. It is easy to improve golf skills at Caloosa for those interested.
  • A computerized handicap system allows members to enter golf scores after each round. A USGA Handicap is computed for each of four tee placements provided on the course . Scores and handicaps for any member can be examined at any time and handicap listings are printed and posted bi-weekly.
  • Tournaments conducted by the Club involve all members who sign up to play. Pairings are formed by a computer system using the USGA handicaps computed for each player and criteria specific to the event. This assures that objective pairings are established for all Club-sponsored events.
  • There are active golf associations and groups for men and women to cover the interests of both 9-hole and 18-hole players. At Caloosa, there is a level of play to suit beginners and accomplished golfers alike.
  • Men and women beginner golfers are especially welcome at Caloosa. That is why Caloosa has become popular as a friendly Golf Club with all members welcome to participate in the many mixed couples golfing events and social activities.
  • Caloosa members can develop and improve golf skills through lessons and clinics offered on the premises by an experienced Teaching Professional. Both beginner and experienced golfers take advantage of this convenience. Many seniors who did not play golf before retiring, now find they have the time to learn to play with the help of a skilled professional teacher.
  • Caloosa is consistently ranked as one of the best conditioned and maintained golf courses in the area. A professional Greens Superintenant, supported by a skilled maintenance staff, is employed by the Club to manage the sophisticated sprinkler regimes, chemical applications, seeding, and mowing operations to keep the course in superb playing condition throughout the year.
  • Beyond golf, the spacious, handsomely appointed clubhouse supports a full calendar of social events. Catered banquets and dinner/dance functions are routinely held under the sponsorship of the Club. In addition, the clubhouse is available to members to use for large and small private parties of all types.
